Obituary for Dolores "Dolly" Essex (nee Geise)

Dolores (Dolly) Veronica Essex, born on July 9th, 1929, has passed away on May 15th, 2020. She lived her entire life in Brooklyn, New York, and passed away at the age of 90.

Dolly married her late husband Francis Essex on May 22nd, 1949. Married for 62 years, she dedicated her life to raising her children and loved taking care of her home. She loved to cook and she loved to clean, and provided the best life she could for her children. She loved to sing, play cards, and eat chocolate with her friends and her family. Dolly had a joyous spirit, and even when feeling sick would lighten up the room with her singing and dancing.

Dolly was a beloved mother of 8. Her children, Francis, Dolores, Robert, Donna, James, Laura, and the late John and Edward, cherished the time they spent with their mother. She provided for them and guided them into the world of becoming loving parents, aunts, and uncles. Dolores had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as she paved the way for her children to lead happy lives of their own. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Geise.

There will be a service for Dolly on Thursday, May 21st, for immediate family at LEONE FUNERAL HOME, 696 4th avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11232. 718-768-4000. The service will take place between the hours of 1pm and 5pm. She will be buried in Resurrection Cemetery with her late husband on Friday, May 22nd.
