Obituary for Cynthia St. James

On April 5, 2019 at 3:50 AM Brooklyn lost a beautiful guardian angel of animals… Cynthia St. James! Now that she is in heaven… I pray that she continues to watch over all the animals as she did before!

Cynthia was born in Bermuda on January 25, 1955 and has lived in a number of places… Mississippi… Florida… California… Colorado… And finally… Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn has been her home for over 30 years! Most people in the neighborhood know Cynthia as the one who walks and trains dogs… Feeds the birds … And cares for cats. They may not, however, know about her background. Her degree is in psychology and speech & drama….with a masters in psychology. She has worked as a counselor in a psych ward… A police officer in Colorado… was an assistant for actress, Maggie Smith… play acted in theatre, did some modeling, worked as a waitress in a bartender and then became a dog trainer. Cynthia had a very strong work ethic and was very independent. Cynthia was well read… And researched everything she got involved in! She went through an extensive dog training program! So the people of Brooklyn were blessed to have her care for their dogs! She worked with the dogs as well as the owners! She combined her background in psychology along with her training dog behavior training and applied it to her life‘s work! I applaud her for following her calling! It wasn’t about money or prestige for my sister! It was about compassion and dedication to the animals in her life!

Cynthia made Brooklyn her home of over 30 years… So it is fitting that she passed away here. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her! But there are reminders of her everywhere… As we listen to the birds singing… See the dogs walking … And experiencing her cats loving up on me!

Cynthia is survived by her sister, Carol Stockton, from Lowman, Idaho and her nephew, James Stockton, from New Jersey. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Anthony Justiano, of Brooklyn, New York! I thank you Anthony for your love, dedication and companionship of my sister for over 13 years! That’s why I call you her Guardian Angel! You not only took her to the hospital 3 major times… Where she nearly died… But you were the most significant person in her life! Thank you for being there for Cynthia through thick and thin! It was a sacred and intimate blessing to experience the final hours all together! We prayed, sang, loved up on her and gave her permission to let go and be at peace in heaven!
